Rice for Sushi
What you absolutely need:
Cooking the Rice
Wash the rice with cold water until the water is clear. The following recipe is enough for two persons.
- Add 1 CUP rice and 2 1/2 CUPS cold water to a pot.
- Bring rice and water to a boil; boil for 10 minutes with lid.
- Turn down the heat to minimum and cook with lid on until the rice is done, ca. 15 min.
Preparing the Rice
The taste is principally coming from the rice-vinegar; some people like more or less sugar,
feel free to experiment.
- Sugar/rice-vinegar Mixing Unit: Mix 1 tbsp. sugar with 3 tbsp. rice-vinegar; to that also add a bit of salt.
- Mix sugar/rice-vinegar with the rice; for each CUP of rice, add 2 to 3 units of sugar/rice-vinegar
to taste ! (you will have to try it a bit!)
